Comfortable Luxury Re-invented - Hotel The Champs
In November 2008, owners Lise and Hans opened the doors of Hotel The Champs: a 5-room hotel where breakfast is included in the room-rate with a restaurant on site.
9 years later we decided to start renovation works: all rooms got new interiors and the bathrooms were upgraded. A pool was added into the garden. New beds, mattresses and pillows were ordered, and a plan designed for a new leisure area... Unfortunately Hurricane Maria blew the restaurant and old leisure area in the air.
One year later, 2018, we received the new beds to ensure the comfort of our rooms. We renovated the kitchen and set up a new restaurant area on the top floor. And a new plan was born: we have added 2 new "XL" junior suites at the level of the superior rooms with a panoramic view, and a huge leisure area on the pool level with lots of comfy sun-beds to give our guests a relaxed and luxury feeling.

The Extra Mile
Proprietors Lise and Hans like to do their best to make their guests really happy. For that they need to go the extra mile but that is no problem because there are no traffic jams along the extra mile.

Our Story
Back in 1994 while still living in the Netherlands, we ( owners Lise and Hans) put our common dreams on paper: Living and working in the Caribbean. We made this our 10-15 years goal.
During our journey towards this goal we explored some other countries while moving slowly towards a sunny climate. > Our first stop was in Paris where we improved our French and enjoyed the big city live. > After 6 years we decided it was time to move to Barcelona in Spain. In Barcelona we learned how it is to live close to the sea and we enjoyed the outside life and the nice temperatures. We stayed 8 years and end 2006 we planned our next big move:
After visiting many islands in the Caribbean we immediately felt at home on our first day in Dominica. The sun, the sea, the nature and the friendly people. To be able to wear flip flops and shorts 365 days a year feels very relaxing. So in November 2008 we opened the doors of Hotel The Champs.
15 years later November 2022, 5 years after Hurricane Maria hit the Island, we are still here. We've added 2 XL junior suites and are finising a street level luxury apartment. The Lise-and-Hans-in-Dominica-story continues. Stay tuned! - We hope you like this lifestyle blog.
